2011-04-07 13:04:11 | Amy - It is a sad day when the Bee Cave concrete mall sqI am saddened to hear that this city council is so far removed from the real energy of where they sit. Bee Cave has been a wonderful gateway to the Hill Country for so long and now it seems they are dead set on making it as cold as the stone it now is surrounded by. This mural would be a wonderful, gracious gesture to the land that this stone city took over and to the feel of this area...and instead they are voting for plastic energy.

2011-04-07 20:14:11 | kcr - EmbarrassedI am certainly not the target demographic for Planet K and am not thrilled about some of the perceived merchandise that they carry but I think the actions of the council in relation to the mural (among other actions) is embarrassing and damaging to our community. This IS the Austin area for goodness sake and I think that we want creative, fun and original businesses in the area (like the cupcake trailer). By banning murals this makes us Round Rock. Communities that embrace creativity result in desirability and in higher property values when guided by the city-- but not banned (think Nantucket, Laguna Beach, etc.). This action makes me reconsider where I want to buy my next house and spend my dollars moving forward.

How do you liken a head shop to the cupcake trailer??? Ooooh yes, it's also targeted towards children.
"...result in desirability and higher property values (think Nantucket, Laguna Beach)."
Could desirability and higher property values have anything to do with the fact that THEY ARE ON THE OCEAN??? You think it's their head shops attracting all those high dollars???
Perhaps it would be good for you to look elsewhere. This is not Taxachusetts, and it's not Failifornia. Thankfully so.

2011-04-09 16:31:57 | rsheldon - Bee Cave, TX a bastion of intolerance and absurditThe people who run this otherwise tranquil spot along 71 have their heads so far up their derrières they can't see all points of this issue. I will make a conscience decision to motor on down 71 to Austin the next time i need something from the mall, that would be Barton Creek Mall from now on out. HEB, Lowes and Home Depot are not that much further down 620. I encourage everyone else reading this to boycott business in Bee Cave until they recall the members of the City council and replace them with reasonable folks. Adios BC!

We already know what we have in Bee Caves regarding the beauty in nature. Why would we want an inferior piece of art tainting what we already have in our own backyard.
If you are going to do a mural, make it something unique and worth the effort and paint.

2011-04-11 13:57:02 | New Commer - George - put a sock in itI have a hard time taking artistic advice from GEORGE (which way did he go) WINSTAD!!! I bet your 'art' sucks to 90% of the people who view/hear/feel it. Take a back seat and step off your horse. The issue is whether a business has the freedom to put a non-offensive mural in front of their business. Go tell that Georgie boy

Yes, the city council of Bee Cave sure showed them! Idiots.
