Spicewood Arts Society Announces New Concert Season
Fans of all music genres will find something to like at the 2017-18 performance season of the Spicewood Arts Society, including jazz, “classical-not-classical,” and Western swing.
The season ticket price of $125 includes the five regular season performances, averaging $25 each. Tickets may be purchased at www.spicewoodarts.org.
“Season ticket prices represent a considerable savings over buying individual performances,” said new president Karen Noecker. “Check concerts for individual ticket prices. If you find three or more you like, you’ll save on a season ticket!”
All performances will be at the Spicewood Vineyards Event Center, 1419 Co. Rd. 409, Spicewood, TX.
Performances included in season tickets:
Matt Wilson Band ($50), Friday, September 22, 2017. Beginning the season, Matt Wilson and his band are back by popular demand. Wilson selects from his deep catalog of soul, rock and gospel, delighting his audiences.
Collin Hauser and Stevie Jo Rosenbalm ($40), Friday, November 17, 2017
Collin Hauser’s guitar, sax, and distinctive voice is backed by drummer and singer Stevie Jo Rosenbalm, a Top 20 contestant on “The Voice,” with a stand-up bass third in the trio. Collin Hauser will be fresh from releasing his first album.
Invoke ($35), Saturday, January 20, 2018
Weaving together American musical traditions from Appalachian fiddle tunes to jazz, Invoke’s unique sound refuses definition. A robust sense of humor infuses their family-friendly shows with lighthearted spirit.
Hot Texas Swing Band ($35), Friday, April 6, 2018
The Hot Texas Swing Band, a six-piece band with vocalist Selena Rosanbalm, plays boot-scootin’ boogie in the tradition of Bob Wills and Asleep at the Wheel, adding their own original material to that much-loved genre.
“A Toast to Tony” ($50), Friday, May 4, 2018
A tribute to jazz great Tony Campise, sponsored by the Motheral Family
Mike Mordecai and Friends will be an evening of great music demonstrating great love for a departed friend, Tony Campise. Mordecai brings Doug Lawrence, tenor sax, Dennis Dotson, trumpet, Butch Miles, drums, and a surprise guest to the stage.
While not included in the season ticket package, the annual SAS fundraiser, “Rockin’ the Vineyard,” will be Saturday, February 17, 2018, with the Square Grooves and is an integral part of the season. Proceeds fund scholarships for students at Lake Travis and Marble Falls high schools continuing their education in the arts.
