LTISD Super - planned heart surgery
School District Superintendent Dr. Brad Lancaster has announced a temporary change of leadership for a few weeks as he has decided to go in for open heart surgery in late February.
Here is the full release from the District:
"During the regular January Board meeting tonight, the LTISD Board voted to name Deputy Superintendent, Holly Morris-Kuentz, as acting superintendent beginning Thursday, February 21, 2019. The purpose of this email is to clarify that Board action and explain my future absences.
Over the past 12 years I have seen a cardiologist to monitor a leaky heart valve, known as mitral valve prolapse. Fortunately for me, this condition has been without noticeable symptoms, but has grown progressively worse over time. We have been monitoring this condition with the understanding that it would eventually require surgery. According to my cardiologist, the time has come for either a valve repair or replacement. We have scheduled that surgery for February 21. Due to the nature of open heart surgery, I will be unavailable for several weeks. As a result, it is necessary for the Board to name someone to act as superintendent in my absence.
Ms. Morris-Kuentz will assume the role of acting superintendent on February 21 and will serve in that capacity until I am released to return to work, hopefully within four to six weeks. I have an excellent local cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeon, am in reasonably good shape (for my age!), and am optimistic about a quick recovery. I am completely confident in Ms. Morris-Kuentz’s experience and the support of our outstanding Board of Trustees and district and campus leadership team. The district will be in excellent hands.
I wanted the chance to explain the Board’s action last night and my upcoming absences. Until then, I look forward to seeing you in the district and in our community. Go Cavs!"
