Council seat update - two put names forward
We have asked for and received a short statement from City manager Frank Salvato about next steps discussed Tuesday night (Sept 10) following the resignation of FHW resident Paul Kline -
"The City Council accepted the resignation and declared the seat vacant. They are setting a special Council meeting for next Thursday (Sept 19th) evening to discuss appointment until a May 2014 special election. They requested anyone interested in the appointment to send a letter of interest to the City Manager before next Thursday."
The city then put out the following Press Release late Thursday (12th) morning:
"Notice and Request for Application:
Tuesday, September 10th, the Bee Cave City Council took action to officially accept the resignation of Councilmember Paul Kline who was elected in May, 2013. The Council took further action to declare a vacancy and request applications for consideration of interested citizens willing to serve. There are certain criteria one must meet for eligibility and the appointee will serve until a special election can be called – more than likely thru May, 2014. Specific language related to eligibility requirements of a Council member are contained in the Bee Cave Home Rule Charter available on our website;

We also heard from former Council member Bill Goodwin (a Homestead resident who received the 4th highest vote total in May 2013) that he has put his name forward for consideration. He is now joined by Rich Schmitt - a Falconhead West resident who has also offered his services. A copy of Schmitt's letter is attached outlining his views.
