Police chase on 620 - Thursday evening
A police chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies and at least one helicopter had the 620 area on the borders of Bee Cave and Lakeway in uproar on Thursday evening (May 22).
Although the details are sketchy and some Austin based news media seem to have some confused LT area geography in their stories some things appear clear:
- The criminals involved were breaking into cars and stealing valuables on view - at Bee Cave Central Park and the Field of Dreams.
- Detective Bill Pitman with the Bee Cave Police Department stated the chase started Thursday around 7p.m. in Lakeway at Lohman’s Crossing. A rented Ford Fusion was speeding and crashed while side swiping a car near 620 and Bee Cave Parkway the suspects fled on foot.
- A rumor that one of them was armed appears to have been false
- The man arrested appears to be connected to a Florida based gang that is known to send teams into this area to rent cars and prey on women parking at gyms, stores and parks.
- The car was stolen.
- The driver is still at large - bare footed and with serious head injuries
- Stolen items will be returned today.
- Anyone with information is asked to call the Bee Cave Police Department at (512) 767-6650
