HCG gears up for Independence Day!
The Hill Country Galleria is gearing up for their annual Independence Day Festival to be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. The event is produced by Special Events Live, the same producers of Austin’s beloved Pecan Street Festival.
In the spirit of the Pecan Street Festival on 6th Street, local art vendors will fill the streets of the Hill Country Galleria allowing festival goers to browse and shop their selections of jewelry, clothing, artwork, and other handmade items. Additionally, the Hill Country Galleria is home to over 100 shops and restaurants that will be open for business during the festival for patrons to explore and enjoy.
Festival food and treats will include Schmidt Family Barbecue, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Blanco Cowboy Kettle Corn, Geauxsicles Cajun Cuisine, snowballs from The Candy Jar, iced coffee from Bee Cave Coffee, Co., and beer and wine from Chisos Grill.
Several hill country fair type games will be available for adults and children to enjoy such as “ring the bottle” and “spill the milk”, where you can win stuffed animals and other prizes. Additionally there will be water games for the children like the “slip and slide” and “Screamin Demon”, and carnival rides such as the “Amazon Zipline” and “Bungee Trampoline”. The Red, White, and Zoo petting zoo will once again return for children to enjoy, along with face painting and festival entertainment.
There will be live music during the festival including the Austin original band, Quiet Company, who will headline the event. Other performers include Dale Watson and his Lone Stars, Residual Kid, Lost and Nameless Orchestra, Mayeux and Broussard, and the lively marching band Minor Mishap.
This year there will be TWO firework shows to help celebrate our independence! A show created especially for kids will be at 9:00 p.m. and then the best firework show in Central Texas will be at 11:00 p.m. Fireworks can be seen from the streets of the Hill Country Galleria with the best views from the outdoor Amphitheater in the center of the mall.
Parents are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the hill country fair rides and games, family fun entertainment, then a special performance by Residual Kid at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage, followed by the kid firework show at 9:00 p.m. Be sure to bring your kid swim gear for the water rides.
Admission and parking for the festival are free. For more information and daily updates, please visit www.HillCountryFest.com or call 512-263-0001.
