CAMPO survey online

Share

A new survey asking for public imput from area residents is HERE.

Lakeway City Council said: "Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization launched a new online survey today to gather input from residents, workers, and business owners in Travis and surrounding counties.

CAMPO, the regional transportation planning agency for the Central Texas area, invites you to help prioritize future transportation projects that could help to address traffic needs in the greater Austin area, including Lakeway.

The survey asks residents to indicate their top priorities in each of the six counties in the region as well as priorities related to transit and transportation alternatives such as bicycle and pedestrian projects.

“Ninety-five percent of the public travels in motor vehicles,” Lakeway City Manager Steve Jones said. “We must address the needs of that 95 percent using sound, fundamental transportation planning.”

This is a follow-up to the six public workshops CAMPO held in the region earlier this spring. The input received from the survey and the meetings will inform the development of the CAMPO 2040 Regional Transportation Plan, the plan that sets the long-range transportation priorities for the region. To date, hundreds of people have shared their opinions through meetings, social media, and via email.
The survey is available and will be open until July 25 via the CAMPO website and at www.surveymonkey.com/s/2040PlanOnline.

Every five years, CAMPO is required to create a regional transportation plan for the next 25 years. The 2040 Plan will help identify current and long-term transportation needs and improvement strategies for Central Texas. The long-range transportation plan is then used to guide short-term plans for more immediate action.
“CAMPO’s 2035 Plan does not have transportation projects in western Travis County that address the population growth here, so it is imperative to get something on the map for the 2040 plan,” Jones emphasized.

The Transportation Policy Board of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization voted, 17-3, to include the City of Lakeway’s proposal for construction of SH 45 West in a list of transportation projects to model for the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan.

The proposed toll road would connect the planned extension of SH 45 from U.S. 183 to RM 2222 with the project known as SH 45 SW. The 10-mile section would be one of several roads and improvements that would complete the State Highway 45 Loop circling the greater Austin area and improving regional mobility.

“We urge Lakeway residents and all of western Travis County to take the survey,” Jones said. “The greater their input the greater their impact in the planning process.”
