Abercorn gets IB status
Abercorn International School has been authorized as an IB World School.
Their press release goes on to say:
"Within this stimulating framework, students at Abercorn are encouraged to integrate STEM projects with the Arts, as they develop skills and understanding in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics: STEAM!
For example, last term students extended their creative and innovative skills across the entire curriculum by acquiring and applying knowledge and understanding of materials and components, mechanisms and control systems, structures, and existing products in projects that they related to their Arts show. They assembled motorized and mechanical Lego constructions, created a range of products from natural and man-made materials, and employed a junior CAD program to design objects which were then produced by the school’s 3D printer! Their projects were showcased in a ground-breaking STEMFEST event at the school, and many were included as props in the school musical. This context provided a real-life application for the students’ work, as well as a motivational force for their learning across the curriculum."
