Lake Travis Independent School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brad Lancaster announced Jodie Villemaire as the new principal of Lake Travis Middle School, effective July 1.

Their release added:

“Without a doubt, Ms. Villemaire is the perfect choice for the Lake Travis Middle School community,” Dr. Lancaster said. “This was an important decision, and I want to thank the members of the committee—specifically Krista Eaton, Mark Eilers, and LTMS PTO president Courtney Helton—for their outstanding help through the interview process. This committee unanimously recommended Ms. Villemaire to me. My interview with her only confirmed that endorsement.”

Ms. Villemaire possesses more than 20 years of experience in public education. She earned both a Bachelor’s degree in English/Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ms. Villemaire began her career in public education as a teacher in the Mansfield school district. After 10 years in the classroom, she assumed her first position in school administration as assistant principal of Anderson Elementary in Mansfield.

From 2007-2010, Ms. Villemaire served as assistant principal of Lake Travis Elementary School. When she arrived at LTE, the campus was rated Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Agency. Three years later, Lake Travis Elementary received an Exemplary rating. Ms. Villemaire also served as lead summer school principal for Hudson Bend Middle School and Lake Travis Elementary School during her time at LTISD. Currently, she is the principal of Eanes Elementary School, and during her tenure, has led the professional learning community process at her campus, piloted a more rigorous teacher evaluation system and implemented a one-to- one technology environment for her students and staff.

“I am honored and excited to be coming back to Lake Travis,” Villemaire said. “I am fortunate to have the opportunity to take on a new challenge in my journey in public education. I cannot express how high an honor it has been for me to serve the families of the Eanes school district.”

Ms. Villemaire has a daughter, Jordan, a 2012 graduate of Lake Travis High School, and a son, Cameron, a junior at Lake Travis High School.

District, campus and PTO officials will coordinate a ‘meet and greet’ event between Ms. Villemaire and the Lake Travis Middle School community in August.

“This is a great opportunity for staff to work in tandem with its new principal to define common goals and objectives that will best serve students as well as strengthen school-community partnerships and parental involvement,” Dr. Lancaster added. “This is an exciting time for Lake Travis Middle School.”

Ms. Villemaire replaces Dr. Joe Kopec who served as interim principal throughout the 2014- 2015 school year.
