Spicewood to get medical facility?
The contentious Thoma Ranch development in Spicewood has announced that BSW will build a clinic there in the next 2 years.
Here is the Press release:
"Thomas Ranch–a 2,200-acre master-planned community off Highway 71 and Paleface Ranch Road–and Baylor Scott & White Health officials today announced a partnership to bring needed access to medical services for residents in Western Travis County and Eastern Burnet County. This area is currently designated as a “Medically Underserved Area” by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
The goal of the partnership is to work together to formulate a solution that brings comprehensive health care to Spicewood-area residents. A detailed review of the area’s current and future medical requirements is now underway and may result in a Baylor Scott & White Health clinic in the Spicewood area during the 2018-19 timeframe. Upon completion of the review and agreements, additional details will be forthcoming.
“We are excited to partner with Baylor Scott & White Health, one of the highest quality and most trusted health care systems in Texas,” Ralph Thomas, property owner, said. “I have been carefully formulating my thoughts for this property, and this partnership is an important step forward as Baylor Scott & White Health is also firmly committed to serving the area. As the development progresses, additional strategic partnerships will be announced that will help meet the needs of the growing Spicewood community.”
Thomas Ranch, which is inspired by the rich history and natural character of the Texas Hill Country, will feature premier amenities and attractions for residents of all ages. With its prominent location on Highway 71 west of the Pedernales River, Thomas Ranch is uniquely positioned to meet the growing demand for high-quality Hill Country living west of Austin.
“We are honored to have been selected by Thomas Ranch as the medical provider of choice for residents in the Spicewood area,” Tim Ols, president and CEO of Baylor Scott & White Marble Falls Specialty Clinic and Hospital, said. “Mr. Thomas recognized the needs of this community and has put the interests of Spicewood area residents at the forefront of his planning. This is an exciting opportunity for the community and for Baylor Scott & White.”
Thomas is committed to maintaining the beauty of the area’s natural landscape while also providing much-needed services to the area. He has deep roots in Texas and has owned portions of the ranch for more than two decades. The first Thomas Ranch parcel was purchased in 1993.
Thomas Ranch will maintain the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country, including rolling limestone hills, stream-carved bluffs with springs, caves, cliffs and waterfalls, among other scenic features. A hierarchy of trails will link neighborhoods, provide lake access and connect major amenities, such as Baylor Scott & White health care facility.
The Thomas Ranch Town Square will be the social and commercial hub of the community. In addition to the health care facility, it will include retail entities, restaurants and potential office buildings, as well as open space to accommodate informal recreation and community events.
