BS&W seeking patient advisors
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway announced today that it is recruiting volunteers to serve on a patient advisory board with the goal of continually improving the patient experience.
The patient advisory board, consisting of former patients of the hospital, will meet with senior leadership – both clinical and administrators – to provide input and suggestions while serving as a sounding board for planned innovations.
Patient advisory boards are a best practice in the healthcare industry, and work by offering former patients an avenue to suggest their unique and invaluable perspective about how to make improvements. The goal is to use this information to serve patients better. Input from patient advisory boards can help staff and management make and implement changes that increase patient satisfaction and maintain the hospital’s focus on patient-centered care. They are also often the impetus behind new patient engagement strategies that can have a positive impact on outcomes.
The first meeting of the Patient Advisory Board will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Baylor Scott & White – Lakeway (100 Medical Parkway, Lakeway, 78738). Meetings will be held monthly.
To apply for a position on the patient advisory board, please register before the Sept. 12 meeting by contacting the marketing office at 512-654-5454. Please note that the patient advisory board is eligible to former patients of Baylor Scott & White– Lakeway and Baylor Scott & White Health clinics.
“Receiving this valuable input from patients is an important process to improving our patient experience,” said Philippe Bochaton, CEO of Baylor Scott & White– Lakeway. “There is no substitute for real conversations with people who’ve been patients at our hospital, and to ensure that we’re providing the services our patients truly need and want, a patient advisory board is a proven course of action”
