The LCRA has announced it will be monitoring Lake levels this weekend with the potential to open flood gates as an expected 2-4 inches of rain falls with the Lakes still full.

In early 2019, LCRA will temporarily lower lakes LBJ and Marble Falls for about eight weeks to assist lakeside property owners recovering from recent historic flooding along the Colorado and Llano rivers.

The drawdown will make it easier for residents to remove debris, dredge and maintain or repair docks, retaining walls and other infrastructure.

The drawdown will begin Dec. 30, 2018, and will conclude on Feb. 23, 2019.
LCRA will lower Lake LBJ about 4 feet , from its normal operating range of 824.4 to 825 feet above mean sea level (feet msl) to a range of 820.2 to 820.8 feet msl.

Lake Marble Falls will be lowered about 7 feet, from its normal operating range of 736.2 to 737 feet msl to a range of 729 to 730 feet msl.

Permitting requirements
Residents and property owners who want to perform dredging, remove debris or work on existing retaining walls during the drawdown must register their projects with LCRA.

A permit is not needed for dock repairs, but all work must comply with the Safety Standards for Residential Docks on the Highland Lakes.

Burning in the lakebed is not permitted.
