LRMC gets new imaging system
Lakeway Regional Medical Center (LRMC) has added the new Medtronic O-arm® 02 Surgical Imaging System to bolster its treatment of the most complex spinal disorders.
LRMC is now one of only two medical facilities in Central Texas to utilize the O-arm® 02 Surgical Imaging System, which allows patients undergoing advanced spinal procedures to experience less invasive surgeries, faster recovery times and improved outcomes.
The O-arm® 02 Surgical Imaging System, manufactured and distributed by the Navigation Division of Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT), delivers complete multi-dimensional, intra-operative surgical imaging. It provides surgeons with real-time 3-D images, as well as multi-plane, 2-D and fluoroscopic imaging. Using these images, LRMC’s neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons can view the patient anatomy in the operative position, monitor the status of the surgery and verify the surgical changes with a 3D volumetric image prior to the patient leaving the surgical suite.
“Time is critical in the operating room, and the O-arm® 02 Surgical Imaging System will present our neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons with multidimensional images in under a minute, as well as real time 2-D and 3-D imaging not offered by other available technologies,” said Philippe Bochaton, CEO of LRMC. “This is just the latest innovative technology investment for LRMC as we strive to provide the highest level of complex spinal care to patients across Central Texas.”
The O-arm® 02 Surgical Imaging System, with patented breakable gantry, uses a flat-screen detector that enables it to collect 2-D or 3-D volumetric imaging within seconds. It is designed specifically for use by surgeons in standard operating rooms while yielding high-quality imaging comparable to fixed CT systems. Electromechanical features enable repeatable positioning of the gantry between imaging shots and an unobtrusive location to permit unrestricted patient access.
