Is WTCPUA overcommitted to future developments?
New issues are hitting the beleaguered WTCPUA - centered on the risk of running out of capacity in theory versus real demand.
Faced with lots of commitment agreements with local developers (many grand fathered from the old LCRA days, the Authority is heading towards its limit of 1.8 million gallons per day.
Some of the existing deals have neither upper ceilings on capacity requirements nor any financial commitment in the form of reservation fees, making the situation worse.
Local developer Adrian Overstreet summed it up at the WTCPUA meeting: "“I hope you do what you can to keep the city of Bee Cave competitive to try and address the issue of sunk capacity. We just need to reconcile what is on paper with what is really being committed, and what is being built in the next five years versus the next 30 years.”
