Science Olympiad is a national competition that has been around for 31 years providing standard based challenges to more than 7300 teams in all 50 states. There are thirty teams from all over Texas from public and private schools who have been invited to compete at state level after the regional events.  Each team has to cover at least 23 out of 28 events, the events are all science based and range from build events like constructing bridges that are designed to carry heavy loads to completing written exams created by nationally recognized universities. The contest is offered yearly to Middle and high-schoolers. Bryan and Eli, both 10 years old, decided to compete at the middle school level when they discovered that there was no elementary school level competition.
